Let’s see. It started with natural childbirth, then breast feeding and attachment parenting. Then we became vegetarians. Then came the decision to homeschool and the nearly-simultaneous realization that we no longer believed what we thought we believed. We are now a secular family, adhering to the principles of secular humanism. Oh, and we’re expats to boot. If there’s a “norm,” chances are we’re lined up firmly with the opposition.
ALPHA
Alpha performs the roles of: Daddy, husband, breadwinner, super-genius, fixer-of-all-things physical, and Atheist with a huge, flaming red “A”. By day he works as a network engineer; by night you can find him online, pointing out logical fallacies and scoffing at the masses. He blogs at The Skepdick.
BETA
Beta is also multi-talented: Mama, wife, incredibly good cook, headmistress, fixer-of-all-things emotional, and an atheist with a little “a”. Meaning that it’s not something she is, it’s simply a word to describe something she’s not. She spends way too much time on the computer.
GAMMA
Gamma is a five and a half year old boy. He loves Legos, K’NEX, tearing apart old VCRs, playing with his brother, and absolutely anything having to do with science. Currently, he’s learning to read and busy being a boy and enjoying life.
EPSILON
Epsilon is two. He loves being read to, playing with his brother, climbing onto tables and up bookshelves, and playing name the body part. And he is absolutely obsessed with trains. He, too, spends most of his time playing and simply being a boy.
Please note, neither Gamma nor Epsilon are identified as atheists. We don’t label our children.
